Symbols of Faith
Creator
Through your compassion
Rooting us in relationship
Easing the struggles
Eventually transforming through
Sacred presence.

Sensitive to needs, you make us
Tough to withstand storms of life
Overcoming all stressors
Naming no one as ordinary and all
Exceptional in your
Sacred sight.
Spirit
Flourishing from young to
Adult when your
Ultimate Love flows through
Nurturing hearts in
Acceptance sought.
Psalm 8 A Psalm of David
8 Lord, our Lord, how majestic
is your name throughout the earth!
You made your glory higher than heaven![b]
From the mouths of nursing babies
you have laid a strong foundation
because of your foes,
in order to stop vengeful enemies.
When I look up at your skies,
at what your fingers made—
the moon and the stars
that you set firmly in place—
what are human beings
that you think about them;
what are human beings
that you pay attention to them?
You’ve made them only slightly less than divine,
crowning them with glory and grandeur.
You’ve let them rule over your handiwork,
putting everything under their feet—
all sheep and all cattle,
the wild animals too,
the birds in the sky,
the fish of the ocean,
everything that travels the pathways of the sea.
Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name throughout the earth!

These past two weekends I’ve had the pleasure of attending high school graduation celebrations for young people who grew up in our church. No longer scrawny little boys they have grown into strong men who are motivated to do their best in life.
Graduations tend to make me a little teary-eyed. If not for me, then for parents who know that life has now changed since this goal has been met. One can’t help but remember the struggles of year’s past when at times it seemed somewhat difficult to imagine this child would grow up to be a responsible adult. And now they have done just that!
With spirits strong as stones, I have no doubt they will stay committed to God. Flexible as tree limbs swaying in the wind, the Holy Spirit will guide them going forward in all kinds of growing experiences. Through supportive relationships their futures are bright.
When enjoying nature, you might stop to sing your own song about the thing that has caught your eye. It would be lovely to hear your tune about a flower, bird, water, or skies. Would you like to sing it for us?
Prayers for you while seeking the Light in the darkness and observing the Sacredness of life,
Marta
